as a fun little thing, i decided to make some diary posts for each day of my camping trip! i wrote these at the end of each day around the campfire and chose some pictures to go with the text. there will be a couple of these that i will post throughout this week 🤠

Its mainly just driving and setup but I'm already having the best time. We're staying at Ketlle Morraine State Forest in Wisconsin and the trees are BEAUTIFUL. They are tall pines, almost like the trees in the redwood forests in California. Its no Devil's Lake with its beautiful quartzite but I think this is going to be a new favorite campground.

Only one neighbor for tonight. Looks like a kid with his dad and grandfather. Thankfully he isn't crying and screaming like he was earlier, lolol.

hi, ash from the future here. it was actually a grandfather with his teen and no-older-than-5 grandsons. he was literally the worst. multiple times we heard him berating the younger one for crying and calling him a "soft boy" and on and on. ugh. when they left, he was telling them how they might not enjoyed this but it taught them some important lessons. the only lessons you should be learning from camping is how to be happy and enjoy nature. blegh.

While I was planning on the day tomorrow, I found out one of the planned trails has a second trailhead right next to our campsite! Love when that happens. So we walked over to find it after dinner and saw a deer near the trailhead! Even though we tried to walk slowly and quietly up to it, it ended up running into the forest. And then another deer jumped out of the forest and ran after the first! If that isn't a good omen for the rest of the week, do they even exist?

Anyway, time for a marshmallow 😎
